  Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give people more energy and strength, which can be a good thing if their stress is caused by physical danger. But this can also be a bad thing, if their stress is in response to something emotional and there is no outlet for this extra energy and strength. This class will discuss different causes of stress, how stress affects you, the difference between 'good' or 'positive' stress and 'bad' or 'negative' stress, and some common facts about how stress affects people today.


      Stress refers to the consequence of the failure of an organism to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats whether actual or imagined. It is a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance, inability to concentrate and various psychological disorders. There are two types of stress i.e. Eustress’ and ‘Distress’. Eustress is good stress which is required for desirable events in person’s life. Distress is opposite of eustress which makes a person unable to cope up with building stress leading to adverse effects
    The term ‘stress’ was first coined by endocrinologist Hans Selye. This term has been popularized throughout the world. The symptoms of stress may include poor concentration, irritability, excessive worrying, not able to have a proper sleep, not following a proper diet, feeling of loneliness, addiction to liquor or drugs, anxiety, procrastination and severe depression. Thus stress causes a severe impact on the physical and mental balance of a person’s body.
       In today’s world globalization is on the apex of development. Various industries, technology, ideas have sprung up in recent years. This has increased the workload on people. People do not get sufficient time for relaxation from work. They are not able to have a proper diet, sleep and relief from work.
